This is an original graphite on watercolour paper A3-sized unframed artwork.
The monarch butterfly is found all over the world. It is considered a NZ native as it arrived here without the aid of humans. It is NZ’s largest butterfly and is well known as it lives in urban and semi-urban environments on milkweeds, especially the swan plant.
We ensure we have swan plants in the garden each year, often replenishing the supply, as we love watching these large orange and black butterflies flitter about our yard.
