In this artwork the Yellow-Eyed Penguin wears a life ring is a reminder to us that these critters are endangered. So endangered that we are likely to lose them forever within the next 25 years if we cannot halt their decline.
The Yellow-Eyed Penguin (YEP) is one of the world’s rarest penguins. Also known as the Hoiho, which means ‘noise thrower’ their sound is becoming dramatically less frequent as their population declines.
10% of the proceeds from this artwork will go to the Yellow-Eyed Penguin Trust – a group of hard-working folk seeking possible solutions to this likely extinction.
My artwork is created in response to the NZ wildlife, birds, and critters surrounding my life and studio on Hinewai Reserve. I am inspired by nature’s resilience and the critters who live and breed here. I create to protect our critters one artwork at a time.
