Immerse yourself in a full day of making as we dive into the rebellious and creative world of zines.

What is a Zine? It’s a self-published (maga)Zine.

Create your own (maga)Zine

Leave with their own self-published (maga)Zine

Common Zine Topics can include:
Art and poetry: Visual collages, illustrations, or independent writing.
Subcultures: Fandoms, music scenes, and punk culture.
Personal thoughts: Diary-style entries or political and social commentary. 

Workshop Focus:

• The Zine Evolution: From their roots in 1930s sci-fi “fanzines” to their role in 1970s punk and 90s Riot Grrrl subcultures, we’ll explore how zines have always been a tool for self-expression.
• Creative Construction: Teens will learn various folding, layout, and assembly techniques to turn a single sheet of paper or a collection of pages into a Zine publication.
• Multi-Media Expression: Using a mix of collage, drawing, writing, and mark-making, participants will develop their own unique aesthetic.

Age Group: Youth aged 12–18
Cost: $80 Members  / $85 Non-members

All materials are provided!
Feel free to bring your own art, writing, fan images, or cache of embellishments and art/junk journalling materials.
