Fern Series – Rifleman
$475.00
Round Rifleman artwork
I hope you enjoy this rifleman/ titipounamu, as part of my Fern Series.
The Titipounamu/Rifleman is our smallest bird. They have a call so high-pitched many people cannot hear it.
This Fern Series is inspired by our small birds that are often seen at lower levels in the Aotearoa/NZ forest. Ferns, like our feathered friends of the forest, require a healthy ecosystem undisturbed by mammals to thrive.
Created in Ink and Watercolour on top quality Arches 100% cotton 300gsm paper, it is coated in a resin varnish, mounted on circular wooden base and framed with a varnished wood surround.
It has a 30 cm diameter
Each bird in my Fern Series: the fantail, the robin, the tomtit and the rifleman, occupy the lower canopy of our amazing Aotearoa forests. They are painted amongst ferns that also represent the lower reaches of our forest, and like the birds, rely on a healthy ecosystem for survival.
The colour palette in this series uses the same palette as my Autumnal Series, however, the yellow in this series represents new growth. Together these two series of work represent the constant cycle of growth and decline in a healthy natural environment.
