This ‘Grey Warbler Chick’ is a fine art giclée print of my graphite artwork.
The Grey Warbler / Riroriro is another NZ native that is often heard but seldom seen.
It is said they are a Rain Bird, calling before rain falls. However, in my experience they call before, during, and after rain. They even call in drought conditions. They do however, seem to be loudest and most noticeable in spring and late autumn when we do get more rain than other seasons.
These birds are the foster parent for Shining Cuckoo chicks, whose parents have tipped the riroriro egg or chicks from the nest. The nest is an intriguing structure looking like a hanging dome with the entrance on the side.
This is an A4 (21 cm x 29.5 cm) size fine art giclée print on German etching paper. It can fit an A4 or 8 x 10 (20 cm x 25.5 cm) frame.
