New Exhibition, New Home, New Studio

After nearly 20 years of living and working on Hinewai Reserve, my partner and I have moved into our new home in Little River.

Paul, my partner, still works at Hinewai, while I am commuting to Akaroa to teach Art at Akaroa Area School. It’s a big change, especially adapting to my small studio after the amazing space I had at Otanerito Homestead.

The official opening of my new studio will be as part of the Arts Canterbury Open Studio event on Nov 1 & 2, and Nov 8 & 9. Mark your calendar now and more information will be forthcoming.

Teaching is taking up a lot of my creative time, but I love it.

My role involves working with years 7 to 13, including NCEA Art at Levels 1, 2, and 3.

I aim to assist those who want a creative role to be better artists than I am.

My latest Exhibition, MeNToR, is at the Orion Powerhouse Gallery, Akaora. It opens on Friday, September 26th at 5 pm and will be open Tuesday through Sunday until October 19th, 2025

I have created a homage to Hinewai Reserve and called it my “Taraterehu Series”.

Taraterehu (Stony Bay Peak) protected us throughout our time in Otanerito/Hinewai Reserve while the critters surrounding us taught us lessons in resilience and perseverance.

Life is back to being great. My studio is set up, I make time to create, both for my ongoing studies and for creating my current series of work, I enjoy my role teaching art. Family health issues are on the mend, and winter is over. The birds are nesting, the weather is warmer, the garden is growing, and the days are longer. What more could we ask for?

Marking Books

Autumnal Tails Series

Fantails, a common NZ native bird loved by many, are fun, friendly, and fragile. I have created a series of artworks in celebration of these critters called Autumnal Tails. Fantail do not tend to live more than 3 years as they are susceptible to winter’s cold....

The Birds are Busy…

I love this time of year! The birds have been busy and their young are fledging. Fledglings are curious and not very not "street-smart" so we often get closer to them than their parents. They tend to sit and check us out checking them out. Freshly Fledged Fantail...

Are You Journal Mad, Too?

I love notebooks.Actually, I love all stationery, but journals have a special place on my stationery shelves.  I love the idea of journals as a collection of thoughts, a place to collate information, for doodles and drawings...but more than that, I love notebooks...
